I use DiscountAsp for hosting my web site and they have no problem with my ASP.NET 2.0 site. And I did play with Dreamweaver at one time and liked it. But as you can understand, I will neve try to be a web designer; my ultimate goal is to learn developing database applications using ASP.NET (actually I did develop one in VS 2005 years ago and it works well). Hence I am trying to "stay" in VS 2012 so that I will be confortable continue doing more "real" work. What I will look into is if I can create a static HTML5 application in VS 2012 without having to create ASP.NET Web forms or Web pages. This way I will be learning HTML5 and getting used to working in VS 2012.
Thank you, Bill.

>I had to do a static web site a couple of years ago and started it in ASP.NET for the same reason you are - it's what I had.
>GoDaddy, where the site was hosted, didn't like ASP.NET so I decided to use HTML and downloaded the trial version of Dreamweaver.
>It was a pleasure to work with and I zipped thru a web site with dozens of pages with plenty of time to spare on the free version.
>One of these days, I'll buy it.
>You'll probably have to buy a book tho.
>Bummer!

>>>Why not just use HTML5 and jQuery?

>>>What does WP or WF buy you aside from a learning curve that won't be useful for anything later? A static page in HTML5 is easy and for cosmetics you can use simple jquery stuff. Multiple browser issues get handled (by jquery)

>>I was thinking the same earlier, after I started looking at various ways of doing it in ASP.NET. I guess the reason I was looking at ASP.NET is that it is the only web development application I have on my PC.
