That should work, but it should be "text" and "date" (note the lowercase). HTML5 specs say to make it all lowercase.

Select on entry is interesting. People have been misusing it for years. If you TAB into a field, it is supposed to select on entry. If you CLICK into a field, it should NOT select on entry, but simply postion the cursor where you click. I believe HTML works this way, but different browsers could do this differently.
