I have been working toward this same goal over the past couple of years, slowly working on my VFP code to use West Wind wwBusiness for a more OO approach for data and CRUD work rather than native FoxPro Locate/Seek and binding to actual DBF tables. Once you have your app working with a data access layer (even with native FoxPro DBF tables) it will be much easier to finalyl move it to Sql Server.
However, even on my mid-sized app it has been a lot of work (However, I got side tracked into developing an entire Parent-Child OO abstraction layer on along the way.
