Was he kicked out of the yeshiva? ( I don't think public schools have that option and I thought yeshiva was in addition to secular school. ) I think you should reach out to the rabbi of the temple associated with the yeshiva. He may not be aware of the situation or of how severely it is going to impact a family. He would also probably be familiar with other community resources to help your friend and her son.

It is very important that the son be correctly diagnosed. ADHD, borderline personality disorder and bi-polar disorder can all result in disruptive and aggressive behavior but they need to be dealt with very differently.

But first and foremost, you need to find others who are qualified to help you help your friend. Start with a rabbi, since there will be cultural connection and trust, and see what he says.

Good luck.

>>She is suicidal as she told me.

Though a good deal is too strange to be believed, nothing is too strange to have happened.
- Thomas Hardy

Half the harm that is done in this world is due to people who want to feel important. They don't mean to do harm-- but the harm does not interest them. Or they do not see it, or they justify it because they are absorbed in the endless struggle to think well of themselves.

-- T. S. Eliot
Democracy is two wolves and a sheep voting on what to have for lunch.
Liberty is a well-armed sheep contesting the vote.
- Ben Franklin

Pardon him, Theodotus. He is a barbarian, and thinks that the customs of his tribe and island are the laws of nature.
