If I remember, I'll grab a copy from my shelf and see how this is translated. I know that in the new version, for example, it doesn't say "In the beginning, God created," but "When God began to create."

>I think is just an issue of incompleteness and or translation, if you read "And Adam lived a hundred and thirty years, and begot a son in his own likeness, after his image; and called his name Seth. " it certainly looks as if it is saying he lived to 130, but then Genesis 5:4 says that after Seth was born Adam lived another 800 years, and 5:5 says that he died as a 930 years old gaffer.

It looks pretty complete to me: He was 130 years old when he got his first son, then he lived another 800 years, and both values together make 930 years which is his age when he died. So we should conclude that nowadays a person should feel lucky if he lived 10th that age.

After the incident in Genesis 6 the maximum age of a human became limited to 120 years of age and that is the general rule we have today. So in the best human possible scenario, the highest age anybody could become today would be 120 years.
