" it certainly looks as if it is saying he lived to 130, but then Genesis 5:4 says that after Seth was born Adam lived another 800 years, and 5:5 says that he died as a 930 years old gaffer.

Yes, that could be a source of misunderstanding. But then it is always better to read things very carefully. We have lots of issues because programmers do not read requirements completely or correctly, and make assumptions. It's difficult to change that, but often a source of trouble. Same in code review or other situations.
