>>I truly do believe that if there are big events which do not offer up everything they offer to the attendees, that they are causing harm and division, and for no valid reason whatsoever in the digital age.

>>People are free to do what they choose. As for "me and my house" (the Liberty Software Foundation), we will reach out to everybody equally as much as possible, without divisions, without barriers, without any imposed hindrances when the technology is otherwise free, available, and open to prevent such hindrances from existing.

>The content the speakers deliver at SWFox isn't owned by SWFox - it's still owned by the speakers. They are free to do with it what they want, including release it for free (which a number of speakers have done, (ex. Tamar Granor, Rick Borup, etc.) The only thing the conference asks is that they wait 3 months until after the conference. Honestly, that's the way it should be.

That is the choice of the organizers and presenters. I understand their choice. However, there is another model employed by other organizations where the materials are available immediately following the conference at a cost of about 1/3rd of attending the conference. The income from that cost is shared in order to help provide the conference next year and reimburse the presenters for the effort. That is a model that may be worth consideration.
