"Cursors" as in the ability to define and create tables on-the-fly in memory which may or may not have a disk presence, create indexes on fields in those tables, add/delete/edit data in those tables, use them in reports and other purposes and then, when closed, they disappear.

WinDev can access virtually any database either natively using it's own built-in drivers or via 3rd party drivers / technology. It also has, like VFP, it's own built in and free database system which they call HyperFile. Hyperfile can be used in two modes; direct access (like VFP DBFs) or in a client/server configuration. You can even switch between these modes easily by changing just a few lines of code). Hyperfile is as fast as Rushmore optimized VFP database but surpasses the limitations of VFP iro 2Gb, encryption, replication, etc. Hyperfile can work on Windows, Linux, and mobile devices too. Hyperfile in direct access mode is suitable for environments where there might be perhaps 30 to 50 concurrent users of the database, depending on load. After that switching to Hyperfile in client/server mode is recommended. For stand-alone apps or small user groups Hyperfile in direct access mode is perfect and super-stable.
