Hi,
I may have asked a similar question before but forgot the answer. So bear with me if I am repeating.

I have a new customer where we are trying to run VFP 9 application with SQL Server database. The VFP 9 application executable is on one server (VM) and the SQL Server is on another VM. I can ping the SQL Server IP from the application VM box. They (IT) told me that the port 1433 (I understand this is a default port of SQL connection) is open (however, I don't know how to test and verify it).

But when I start the application I get message something to the effect "Server not found or cannot connect". I have seen this message before. It tells me that SQL Server does not allow connection.

Note that I have this application running successfully on other VM boxes. That is, the SQL Server has several databases, each one used for different site and each application has its own VM box. Therefore, the SQL Server VM probably has anything that needs to be configured, done. (Otherwise, it would not work from other VMs).

What else can I check on the application VM box? I suspect the issue is a firewall but don't know how to check it. If you have any suggestions, on how to set/test the firewall on the VM box, I would appreciate it too.

TIA.
