How is your VFP app connecting to the SQL server?

Is it using ODBC or a direct connection?

I can ping the SQL Server IP from the application VM box. They (IT) told me that the port 1433 (I understand this is a default port of SQL connection) is open (however, I don't know how to test and verify it).

Therefore, the SQL Server VM probably has anything that needs to be configured, done. (Otherwise, it would not work from other VMs).
