I still use VS2008, for example, not even 2010, because it's lighter weight and very stable.
I know I can see the project in text editor (like Notepad). But I wanted to see it in IDE so it will be easier to figure out what where.
As far as VS 2008 Express, I was told at one time that that project requires VS 2008 Professional. But maybe just to open VS 2008 Express will work. I will look for the download of VS 2008 express and try it.
