Ok, I give in.... it is beating Blackberry but sure not beating anything else:

http://techcrunch.com/2013/08/19/at-this-rate-nokia-will-be-the-only-windows-phone-oem-by-holidays/

Looks like to me they have a long ways to go. The numbers through the rest of the year will tell a lot. At this point, I still see nothing to make me think its nothing but a last place finisher.

>Really? Windows phone has been rejected by the market? Me thinks you're too "USA-thinking". Have you seen the design awards? Have you seen what it's doing in Latin America (#2) and it's #1 in some countries? It's now #3 in USA (albeit some of that is attributed to Blackberry's demise). IMO, the new Nokia 1020 might be the killer device that really sells Windows Phone. Delta flight attendants will be using Windows Phone exclusively for onboard purchases.

>As for the design, have you seen the new iOS? Looks a lot like Windows Phone. Have you seen all the designers talking about "flat design"? That was ushered in by Windows Phone. Twitter Bootstrap 3.0 has gone to a flat design and guess what... it also resulted in it being faster.

>As for "why", Microsoft has said several times you'll be able to write one application that runs on all platforms. Also, touch is really hard to do properly on a Windows desktop. A finger is bigger than a mouse pointer. I'm not saying that's a right or wrong decision, only what MS stated.

>Have you seen the data on Windows 8 sales? I don't think Microsoft is displeased.

>>So why should a person have to change their habits just to get some daily work done. Whey didn't Microsoft just include a switch that would allow Win 8 to work the way Windows 7/XP worked, or the new way for people who like their computers to look like their Windows phone (which had also already been rejected by the market)? They could have done this.
