IMHO iOS is to Android is as Mercedez Benz is to GM

I realize it appears that way - but as I've said to others....I think often people buy Android phones because of the phones themselves (screen size, nice camera, etc.) and not for the O.S. People buy iPhones more (comparatively more) because of the iOS environment/ecosystem. I think it's just a different perspective.

Be honest, is anyone buying Android phones for Android itself? :)

You and Kevin both say things like this. FWIW my household is packed with iOS devices and my daughters swear by iOS and refuse the amazing Android devices I source out of China. I'm happy to be told the female others in the household are more sophisticated than me, but the chances of my swapping my 5" and 5.7" 1080p Android phones for iDevices, are zero. Apart from anything else, on iPhone my emails are full of fat finger typos and take forever to get right on such a tiny screen. Business apps on that tiny screen seem equally unlikely. IMHO my device is about as small as you can go if you're seriously hoping to deploy business apps. Apple doesn't have a phablet so they'd better hurry up.

I've said many times that we are talking about personal preferences - not to stretch out there, but I believe you and I have talked a time or two about Ludwig von Mises and the entire Austrian concept of valuation. Yes, there are people who prefer the larger Android phones and fat finger typing....and there are people who don't mind the slightly smaller form factor. Truthfully, I prefer the form factor of the iPhone over my HTC - and certainly prefer the navigation. And you'd be surprised (or maybe you wouldn't) at the # of lawyers, finance managers, teachers, who are iPhone junkies, using it frequently for work tasks.

I'm using my 2 year upgrade next month to switch from Android to iPhone. I'm switching for many reasons - certainly the fact that I'm an iPad junkie is a factor.

Android has all the momentum....

Raw numbers, I won't disagree. But unless that patent deal has changed, remember that MS gets a cut without exerting much of a breath.
