I agree that 40-some times is the sign of a big problem. But I see fewer and fewer Democrats arguing the merit of it.....and some of the more moderate ones speaking out against it.

One could argue, "how could Barack Obama not have anticipated this?" He tightly coupled the mandate with AHCA. It passed in early 2010 (I forget the exact date) without a single Republican vote. Can anyone name me one piece of legislation that has survived the test of time yet didn't receive a single vote from one of the two major parties? (I'm not asking a rhetorical question, I'm truly curious if that has ever happened)
