I've read that some of Carney's friends have advised him to resign. Carney was a respected journalist before working as a Press Sec. Many feel that his constant spinning and defending the indefensible are going to harm his career in the long run. To a degree, that's probably true. Tony Snow and Dana Perino had to deal with some very rough situations, but Carney seems more comparatively in over his head.
I quite like Dana Perino.
I have no idea what the White House said to these insurance execs. But I take the fact that Anderson Cooper even mentioned it with a bit more weight than I take Jay Carney's reply.
Well, when people who have been in the tank for Obama for the last 5 years start to criticize, that certainly makes a strong statement. I have seen Jay Leno making jokes about the administration as well.
