Funny....if you want to see barrel-scraping, look at the scenario of using the letter of a woman to validate "government working", only to see that very inept government process crush the woman's hopes. That was actually a pathetic PR blunder by the White House. Those here who have used the "anecdotes does not equal information" argument have been very silent on that one.

You won't hear too many doctor stats from the current administration on AHCA (except for them quoting the AMA) - because they know better.

In less than 10 minutes, I found stats from Jackson and Coker, Forbes, Doctors Company Market Research, CBS News , Deloitte Center for Health Solutions , Jackson Health Care, Washington Times, and even (surprise) the Huffington Post. Since 2010 surveys have had anywhere from 55% to over 70% of surveyed physicians stating that they oppose AHCA.

In fairness, most of these surveys point to a high % of physicians who agreed that significant reform was needed - but it's rather clear that most believe AHCA is clearly "bad medicine". (And yes, there are some physicians who oppose AHCA because they think we should go straight to single payer, but they represent a much smaller segment)

Also keep in mind that many physicians basically dropped the AMA because of AMA's support of the law. Less than 22% of U.S. physicians are now part of the AMA, and I've seen numbers as low as 18%

Here's a piece of information that can't be denied. From Forbes magazine survey...in 2012, physician votes for Romney exceeded votes for Obama (55% to 36%). Among polled physicians who described themselves as independents, it was 51% to 35% in favor of Romney.

John, draw your own conclusions. I've drawn mine. Far more physicians in the U.S. oppose this law than support it. (Most of the pro-AHCA people I know have acknowledged that most doctors oppose it). Most major U.S. polls of "general citizens" finds that roughly 50-56% of Americans oppose AHCA and that number is ticking upwards. Imagine that.

If you have numbers showing U.S. physicians supporting AHCA (especially now!), I'd sure be interested in seeing them. I cannot imagine a law possibly working with such a high % of the ultimate "key players" in the act being opposed. This all reminds me of Ayn Rand's heir (Leonard Peikoff, who came from a medical family) writing a well-known article in the late 1960's..."The forgotten man of socialized medicine - the Doctor"
