>>>Sad that someone as intelligent and accomplished as he is will be known for very judgment and then lying about it.

>Actually Clinton was an invited keynote speaker at the HIMSS conference earlier this year. The place was packed with thousands of attendees. Standing room only. Ask Mike Beane if he has a photo- I'd never seen anything like it at a professional conference. As he spoke about the people he met and the things he'd experienced during his attempt at healthcare reform, I doubt anybody was interested in his trying to escape the consequences of a selfish sordid act long ago. Even those who vote Republican were interested in his recollections.

No photos, sorry. But I remember it equally vividly. He is a polished public speaker, we all know that. What was impressive was that he was knowledgeable and passionate about the nuances of health care technology, the subject of the conference. And I do remember a couple of the freeloaders in your booth being hard core Clinton haters who refused to go to the free lunch time speech. I don't care what anyone's political inclinations are, if you have a chance to listen to an ex-President for an hour, you go. That is a very exclusive club.

The next book on my TBR stack is "Days of Fire" by Peter Baker. It is an evenhanded account of the Bush presidency by an insider. From the reviews I have read it is not partisan or cloaked in personal defense. A fly on the wall account. The part that has gained the most attention is that Dick Cheney was not a puppetmaster. He unquestionably had influence -- the author calls him the most influential VP in American history -- but Bush was indeed the decider.
