not going to enter a discussion about legality found on some topics in the states, but the principle of separation of state and church is not too closely adhered to by allowing to put up the 10 commandments on state property. Rooting for self-declared Satanists seems somewhat silly to me as well, but a buddhistic shrine or an altar for greek or norse gods might be a different matter, if only to add some diversity outside christian belief. Having no idea of native american religion or symbology I cannot comment, but something from that area would be even better fitting, if such a thing exists.
