The original pledge was written in 1892 and read:
I pledge allegiance to my Flag and the Republic for which it stands, one nation indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.
Under God came along after the Knights of Columbus began lobbying for it in 1951 and it was included in 1954.
Anyone who does not go overboard- deserves to.
