Dear Ed,

Thank you very much for your response. I tried 3 machines, two 98 and the other 95. However, I could not find the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Enum\SERENUM in the registries. I tried to search information of my modem and found the key some stuffs in the key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Class\Modem
where I saw the COM my modem using. And, in the key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Class\Ports, I saw some information about the ports. However I could not determine which was the COM the modem using and did know how to see the IRQ.

Ben

>Only indirectly AFAIK; you have to run through the registry to locate the device under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Enum\SERENUM to locate the device, grab it's ClassGUID registry value, and then go back and search HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT for the ClassGUID entry to locate the hardware settings.
