It's a reference to a line from the movie. In the scene, an of-German-descent nanny with a strong accent is listening to children talking at the table when they should be eating. They are asking her questions and she is purposefully ignoring them, trying to encourage the correct behavior of "eating when it's eating time." Her reply after several questions was simply, "I only hear German," indicating she could not hear them.

In my usage, I was responding to your response indicating that it's too difficult, that it's an issue, and so on. I would think a PhD like Tamar would be able to figure something out. After all the technology is possible ... and if the high-end PhD type folk cannot do it ... who can? :-)
