>FYI we identified a work around for this. We have set the compatibility in the shortcut setup for the app to be compatible with Windows XP SP3. The spell checker is now working correctly - no skipped words.

I had to rework this class a lot to make it compatible with the rest of the app into which I was inserting it. The main problem is that it goes from one word to the next on a timer with a 1ms period. I was not sure that this would work in every environment - didn't work in mine for some other reasons, so I reworked it to spell in a loop until a word pops up that requires user intervention. Then it all stops, there's a wait state while user decides, and then after the user is done, the loop is restarted from the next word to the end or to the next wait state.

There was a lot of work, so I'm not sure how usable would my results be - specially that I replaced most of the controls with the ones I had in classlibs used elsewhere in the app - so if I posted any of that, it would cause more questions than I have answers :).

I'm not sure my testers have a W8 machine, but I sort of remember that after I removed the timer, the display artifacts were gone. Maybe you may be lucky to do something similar (now that you know where the trouble began and how it was fixed) without the zig-zag path of trial and terror I had to go through.
