>>FYI we identified a work around for this. We have set the compatibility in the shortcut setup for the app to be compatible with Windows XP SP3. The spell checker is now working correctly - no skipped words.

The main problem is that it goes from one word to the next on a timer with a 1ms period. I was not sure that this would work in every environment - didn't work in mine for some other reasons, so I reworked it to spell in a loop until a word pops up that requires user intervention. Then it all stops, there's a wait state while user decides, and then after the user is done, the loop is restarted from the next word to the end or to the next wait state.

Maybe you may be lucky to do something similar (now that you know where the trouble began and how it was fixed) without the zig-zag path of trial and terror I had to go through.

Thanks for the feedback Dragan. We did not experience any problems with the app we used the spell checker in while running on XP. But the app is pretty simple - just for data entry on a single form with a page frame and some modest editing controls. We did see a problem with Win 8 where sometimes the number of sentences was not correctly evaluated and I am wondering if that might be tied to the timing problem you found. I will take a look at that.

For now we seem to be running fine using the compatibility mode, but we have only deployed to a small group. The app goes company wide next week and we'll see if we will have to dig deeper then.

Best,
Margaret
