In that case - depending on your personal pref - either binge-watch stuff or build something with devexpress. Devexpress has the widest range, so you can build almost any small (# tables) app for any targeted GUI, giving you a working example you created and a blueprint to track differences. As the dichotomy of WPF and Winform does not seem to be exclusive, I think Rick has the better idea of getting a web version first (although I probably dislike browser apps more than him) - you can still build a desktop one later.
