>>And finally - you might be aware that Obama signed an executive order (once again, re-writing a law) that pushes back the employer mandate for one year for companies between 51-99 employees (or 50-100, I forget the actual range).

>I'm surprised that the neocon's haven't been setting up barricades over the serial mandate suspensions from the administration.
>Five minutes thought will reveal where this is going.
>The personal mandate will obviously go. No politician will have the spine to back it up. Then the MD's and hospitals will still be losing money by treating thousands of uninsured people and premiums will be high because healthy people are opting out.
>Then someone will figure out that we'll all save money if the government just funds everything alla Canada, Europe or the UK.
>If Obama pulls that off- and he seems to be on track to do it - I'll take back everything I've said about the stupidity of this plan.

I don't think it's obvious that the individual mandate will go. That is core to the whole plan. Everyone is covered. That won't work if you have a bunch of freeloaders sitting on the sidelines until they need health care, with no intention of paying for it. That's what we had before.

What you are describing at the end is also called single payor. I don't think that will fly in this country, at least not any time soon.
