>You might want to contact your ISP about router firmware updates - what is their policy, and what update(s) have they applied recently. Personally, I would not allow an ISP to push out firmware updates without notification. Many times updates like that destroy any custom settings you may have in the router such as port forwarding etc. Also your service will be interrupted during the firmware update process.
I told them to leave that router alone. I manage it by myself and I did not want anyone to touch it. They told me, a few months ago, when I discovered that they changed a setting, that they are allowed to push any upgrade. I said, OK, no problem, but leave my settings alone. On that one, when they upgraded it, a setting was changed when it wasn't suppose to. I haven't contacted them on this one yet. As everything is working ok now, I will wait and see. Then, I will be able to verify with them. If the timeframe matches, then, this could be a possibility.
>Right about now is the time that this month's Patch Tuesday Windows updates are being applied. So, if you've noticed that things are better today than yesterday, maybe it's because of this month's Windows updates, rather than a router update.
I did the full update last night at midnight. Are you saying that there could have been another one today? It is also not clear on which end the problem was. Both works OK as is. But, when the PC remote desktop to the ultrabook, it had problems. So, the fact that the remote desktop was loaded could have been related to one end or the other. I just checked the Windows Updates and the last update is from the one I did last night.
