>>Great decision by Adam Silver today in the Donald Sterling situation.

>Agreed. As Charles Barkley pointed out, this is a black league. If they had not come down hard on Sterling they would have had a revolt on their hands. They almost had one anyway with both the Clippers and Warriors talking about boycotting a playoff game.

>It may be tricky forcing him to sell the franchise, though. Marge Schott was in a similar situation when she owned the Cincinnati Reds in the 1980s. MLB banned her for a long time from having any involvement with team operations but couldn't make her sell. She eventually sold 3 years or so later.

I realize the players were considering a boycott, though to be honest I'm glad the league made the decision before that even became possible. Remember that Silver was groomed by David Stern, and Stern would have punished both teams for boycotting, regardless of the circumstances.

Silver sent a message today, that there's a general standard of conduct for someone at the level of an owner. For all the times when this term gets used, Sterling's comments were definitely "plantation mentality".

I think odds are good that they'll get 3/4ths of the owners to force Sterling out.
