>From what I have read a positive outlook can help. That's the approach I am taking. I am following a new diet. Many of my favorite foods are on the verboten list but there are worse things. I thought I was eating healthier with lots of fruits and vegetables. Fruits are pretty much out now. Veggies are OK. One unpleasant surprise was pasta is horrible for diabetics. I guess if I eat like a chipmunk I'll be OK.

Mike, Dr Bernstein (himself a diabetic) has a book about a very rational approach to managing diabetes.
You certainly don't have to eat like a chipmunk.
His web site is www.diabetes-book.com - has a good forum too.
His book is on amazaon for $30, or only $15 on kindle.

Buy the book and read it.
It will change your life.
