This is the list of anomalies which started two weeks ago when I lost many rights on drive C:

1. 24im Messenger, despite the fact that installation can work ok and create the directory in C:\Users\mfournier\AppData\Roaming\24im\24im Messenger insists on creating a 24im directory on my virtual disk D:
2. The same goes for SSMS with the directory D:\SQL Server Management Studio
3. The same goes for Cyberlink software from a Buffalo Blu-ray Disc burner with the directory D:\Cyberlink
4. The same goes with Visual Studio with the directory D:\Visual Studio
5. SQL Server complains about rights issue and put my databases in recovery mode after a while
6. SnagIt cannot work any longer by capturing a window, it will capture the entire desktop when this setting is ON, the setting Region works however
7. A file d:\Deskop.ini gets created even after I remove it, this one is hidden
8. SQL Server 2012 was never able to get installed after that, I had to switch to SQL Server 2014 which is able to get installed in such situation, after SQL Server 2012 was working ok until that date, which forced me to consider moving to SQL Server 2014 because my database were suddently always going into recovery mode after a while, which I now have also in SQL Server 2014 - see thread #1602172

So, basically, even if I installed those software with Run as administrator and forces the executable to always run as administrator, this is not related. I did not have to do that up until two weeks ago. Then, came an update. This update downgraded some rights which causes this nightware.

I have tried to elevate the entire C: drive to my account. Of course, Windows 8.1 would not allow that. It would complain on pretty much all files. I do not know what to try now but this is affecting my entire operation. My account is part of the Administrator group. However, in Windows 8.1, this is no longer sufficent or pratically does not serve for anything as that OS does not want anyone to be admin now.
