>Either the employer or government provides a living wage- because whole communities of underutilized people are not going to starve.

There are whole communities of people in the USA who's kids don't get enough to eat so that is happening already. Many MANY kids the only meal of the day they get is the school lunch they have.
Employer's are not helping - they pay the minimum wage required by law.
As for the government - well lets see - republican's have done anything and everything possible to keep the ludicrous minimum wage, plus they are making it more and more difficult to get food stamps, while at the same time cutting unemployment benefits. Meanwhile tax breaks for these corporations and the rich (again the bogus "trickle down' argument they use). Plus while all this is going on there seems to be government / police opposition to anyone trying to help too...like my friend that feeds homeless people in Florida once a week and kept getting arrested for it.....that's right it's against the law to give food to a homeless person unless you do it juuuust right..haha.
Sorry but at the moment the employer nor the government is providing a living wage for millions of people. Raise the minimum wage to $15 or $20 an hour over the next 6 or 12 months - then you'll have some progress.

>Even those who are only interested in themselves must realize that hundreds of thousands of people will not meekly starve or seek out nonexistent jobs because of somebody else's ideology. Of course they'll create their own social compact that will reward their own attributes such as physical strength rather than entrenched privilege.

There are hundreds of thousands of people who work full time and still can't put food on the table. That is a problem that can be fixed IF we have a government that is willing to do something about it.
