>>I will not bore you with chapter and verse but I love this show. As is so often the case, I am late to the party. It's in about its 5th or 6th season. I have had season 1 on DVD kicking around for a long time, bought for a song in response to a critical rave. At the moment I am laid up with a bum ankle so have had a great opportunity to catch up on unwatched DVDs and unread books. "Nurse Jackie" is the one that has jumped out at me. The star and focus is Edie Falco as Jackie, an ER nurse. She proves her acting chops because Jackie could not be much more different from Carmela Soprano. The other characters are equally well imagined and depicted. My favorite will be an easy guess for anyone who knows me at all, LOL.

>>Great writing, great acting -- a recipe for compelling drama. As one of the characters in the show would say, I will stop gushing now.

>I watched the first season several years ago, then stopped watching it (no specific reason). I hadn't seen it in years, and then last night saw the season finale (where she was trying to fly away and stopped to help a crash victim, and then got caught by the cops). The last scene was pretty predictable, I noticed she didn't zip her bag back up and I figured the pills would come flying out.

>The show is one of those where I definitely don't like any character (including hers) but I do find it interesting to watch. I might go back and watch some of the episodes I missed.

>In other news, I nearly died tonight - from stuffing myself. Overdoses on ribs. Between all the BBQ sauce and ribs I have a blood sugar level and cholesterol level that would kill 10 horses. But oh man, were they good......there is no dinner better than a great rack of baby-backs.

Go ahead, rub it in ;-) Saturated fat is on the verboten list for diabetics. I am not doing a perfect job but coming pretty close.

I am going to be taking a break from "Nurse Jackie". I just finished the second season and it turns very dark towards the end of it. Being laid up I am not in the mood for dark fare. The good news is the foot continues to heal. On Thursday I discovered that I can now walk on it. Well, hobble on it. I am still staying off it as much as possible. It will be very nice to get out of the house. I am not trying that yet because both exits from my house have three steps. That isn't many but there is nothing to hold onto and I am not going to take any chance on falling again, not when it's this close. I am guesstimating I will be able to get out within a week, which will be nice. I have been either flat on my back in a hospital bed or on the first floor of my house for almost a month. That would make anyone a little nutso.

There are several characters on "Nurse Jackie" who I like. I like Dr. O'Hara a lot. And I like Jackie on balance. She is essentially a good, caring person whose behavior sometimes turns bad because of her addiction. I can relate. Also her husband Kevin, as likeable a person as you could want to meet. But it's cool. We have disagreed before ;-)
