I'd have said the same thing in 1980 about the cold war.
The right leadership on both sides- Gorbachev and Reagan- ended it and they became good buddies who commanded 7 figures on the speaking circuit as a team.
It took two sides, though.
Neither side has the leadership now, so people are dying, but that could change so we shouldn't give hope.
