On several workstations at where I work we've got Asian language extensions loaded in Windows so that we may perform input in various Asian language (on my workstation I've set it up to switch between English and Japanese language, while my coworkers generally have theirs set up for English and Chinese). Depending on the input mode selected, some keys may not operate the same way.

Thank you for the explanation. No, I don't have IME loaded or active on my computer. I was hoping that by enabling French keyboard (in Control Panel) the typing would be easier. But I can do ok with using ALT ### method. Since I type in French super slow it does not matter that much.
