>I saw the adverts. very good. You know I'm against the level of gun ownership in the USA but the least owners should be is extremely careful about storage and use. I'm sure I've read of other cases of small children being taken by surprise like that.

And that is what angers me most of all - incidents where a six year old will find a gun under a bed on in a clothes drawer, with tragic results. Makes me want to slap the hell out of the parents.

When I was about 13 my uncle got me a BB gun. He hunted and had all sorts of guns. They were kept locked. If you saw the way he taught me how to use a gun and take care of it, you would have thought he was a tough drill instructor training me on using an assault rifle. He was demanding that I do everything he told me to do, and he would have taken it away from me if I didn't do exactly as he said.

I still believe in gun ownership, but also believe that people who aren't willing to treat the entire thing with the same level of respect, have no business owning guns. How you translate that into legal terms, I have no idea. I have actually sent letters to the NRA about those two commercials, telling them to get behind more public announcements along those lines. In my opinion, they could do much more in social media circles.
