>>(Re ICD-10) A survey will certainly show that most MDs are against that.
Yep- the same survey showed exactly that.
>>Partly because their software needs to be upgraded, but also, because ICD10 is more specific, more detailed, and therefore leaves less room for charging the most for certain procedures.
What I see is resistance because it's a big change at the same time as EHR Stage 2 and everything else going on. I doubt it will alter the bill much for physicians since they're paid on CPT or E/M rather than I10.
FWIW, this survey also has MDs expressing disappointment about EHR systems. As the MD is your customer in this respect, does their voice count this time, or will the requirement to implement EHR continue regardless?
"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us."
