>Those incidents are just the tip of the iceberg. Dorris is talking about an entrenched attitude in which an assertive male is showing leadership qualities but an assertive female is being a bitch. Not easy to get ahead when you're surrounded by that. Asocial geeks discussing misogynist fantasies or being boors in front of an electronic audience may get the press, but that's not the focus of dissatisfaction for the "bitches."

Quid pro quo....anecdote does not equal information. I believe you and others have used that mantra many times.

The first few sentences are huge generalizations/conclusions. I'm certainly not saying it doesn't happen but often there are other details at play. I've seen men behave very badly in professional settings towards other men, and women towards other women.

It's about power and those who abuse it. I'm far more concerned about those who abuse power, than arguments about one person allegedly being treated worse for advanced the same idea as a person who is treated better.

Getting slightly off topic but still in the realm of abusing power...if you want to see an example of how ugly people can be when in "power", look at the actions of the senior members of the Sayreville high school football team (look up "Sayreville" and "football" and "hazing")
