Oooh yeah, this is a day like that. And it's not technology that matters - it's how it's used (sounds familiar, eh?). Today we had a power outage, just like last saturday, about 15-20 minutes, I guess they didn't finish fixing whatever they were fixing last time. I let the UPS on my machine beep itself to sleep, found something to do in the yard. Cleaned up the rear part of it, picked up the fallen walnuts, took a first look at yesterday's kittens... and it was almost dark when I remembered to boot my machine. And even then, I used it only to do things unrelated to work - write a blog entry (in my neighbor's blog - I killed mine), play some, process the week's photos, chat with the offsite daughter, be with my grandchildren. The so-called life.

Even better, when I took a nap, it was finally one when I didn't dream in shapes of code. Coding did intrude a bit, but I was actively seeking real life replacement for the paradigm of parameters to a subroutine, firmly believing (in the dream) that it must exist, if I only keep rejecting the software-shaped imagery, I'll manage to find it. Didn't, but then I got out of that episode and switched to dreaming about working with real tools. IOW, I snapped out of it. Good weekend :).
