Wow... that's quite behind Europe. Four years ago, when we returned here, there were still a few card readers which could read the strip, and I've seen a few operators swipe a card when the chip reader wouldn't take it - but generally I can't remember if I saw a swipe-only reader anywhere.

Perhaps someone else on this side of the puddle did this already - I sure haven't, the apps I do aren't even marginally involved with cash operations.
