I don't really use them on my machine - I use bbLean and Launchy - but on a few servers where I remote frequently I have to use them and I've laid them out in some way which makes sense to me. I have a mulitmonitor set. Everytime one of the monitors is shut down all the icons (infact: all windows) are rearanged and do not arange back. At least Windows supports multi monitors now. :)
