Perhaps because their birth control failed (my husband has a daughter who is living proof that the pill is only 98% effective) and their access to safe abortion has been removed by various legislatures? Maybe their families/religion precluded "taking care of the problem". Or are you one of those "just don't have sex" people? Could you, back in the day of little money, no transportation, no insurance, have afforded the 200 mile trip to a clinic for a 'consultation', then return 2 - 3 days later for the actual procedure?
Are you truly so lacking in empathy that you can't even imagine instances where this might happen?
