You may right. My feeling, or should I say my assumption - this is certainly not supported by fact - is that python is accepted in business circles that not too risk-adverse. And Europe is certainly more risk adverse than the US...
Among python supporters, the Web-dev community has been central right from the start. That was a weak point in the 90s as Web-dev was a marginal IT business. As we are all fully aware, the Web is now a very significant business per se. The python community - I am going to a "community event" in Paris to-night is essentially, from an financing POV, a Web-dev, say Django and al, community.

My customers do not care as they are non-IT staff purchasing a closed application. As a developer, I am indeed the only person who cares. Essentially about the long time picture - open source offers some security - and the size of the code base!
