>>>Hi,

>>>Do you know how to add call-outs (though not sure this is the right term) to an image created with the snipping tool? For example, I can capture an application window but then I want to add arrows with the a short text in round or oval shapes. For example, the text in a shape would say "1 - enter ID", "2 - Click this button", and so on. Snipping tool has a pen or a highlighter but I can't make straight lines or round shapes with it.

>>I used SnagIt for a long time, but I switched to
GreenShot, for it is free (opensource) and had everything I used from SnagIt (minus video, which I never used anyways)

>Thank you. I often wonder, if it is free, how do they (the company that developed GreenShot) make money? They must have bills to pay too.
There are many options, these are some which I know are widely used:
1. The program contains a virus (this happens much more than most people think)
2. The program comes with advertisements, to get rid of the ads you must pay
3. The company also makes more advanced versions which come with a price
4. The company makes money tailor making the program for customers and/or for inclusion in other products
5. The program is a hacked version of a commercial product
