>> But I'll state the fact that nine people were killed with absolutely NO MEANS OF DEFENSE. I defy anyone here to challenge that fact. If there are going to be new laws or changes to laws, they need to address THAT context.
OK, no challenge to that fact.
So, I happen to be a member of St Raphael's parish here in beautiful downtown Hamilton, NJ- home of Supreme Court justice Sam Alito among other notables.
We have a few thousand people in the parish and have a wonderful parish school.
At a typical Sunday mass there are at least several hundred parishioners in attendance.. an inviting target.
Are you suggesting that Reverend Chang, a pious and holy man who has a tendency to mumble and is a bit klutzy but otherwise is a good pastor, be trained in their use and carry weapons at Sunday mass?
That's an argumentative question. I know you're not.
You really know that we need to understand how this young man, who will undoubtedly die before his time, became deranged, focused his hatred on black people, somehow got this weapon and used it to kill innocent people as a way of expressing his anger.
Arming more people is easy- but futile.
Understanding how people are compelled and able to do terrible things is difficult, but it is necessary.
Anyone who does not go overboard- deserves to.
