If there were no physical guns in the U.S., and I'm talking about the complete metaphysical lack of a single gun on U.S. soil, I might be inclined to agree. But remember how impractical prohibition was. Trying to legislate away every firearm in the U.S. is even less practical and is not going to happen.
And even it somehow DID happen, I guarantee you there'd be a black market impact and organized crime of some type.
This is really an apples to oranges comparison. The U.S. has evolved along a completely different way than European countries. Not a value judgment but certainly a fact.
Don't get me wrong - it would be great to live in an environment where guns no longer existed.
People need to understand the difference between what comes out of legislation/statutes and the laws of nature and human behavior. Not to change the subject, but look at drunk driving. There are all sorts of laws right now that didn't exist decades ago. And yet you still have people who die in auto accidents because of drunk drivers.
