Yes I agree - MS SQLSERVER is doing much better these days. That said, so is Postgresql. 9.4 and the coming 9.5 are amazing too. But I don't think Postgres is all that cool or cooler than others. But Postgres hasn't done anything 'cool' since they provided json (now it can be a nosql database) in 9.2.
