That's especially true with accounting systems.
Except for Quick Books, where the people "get" it, most accounting systems haven't improved much functionally during the past several decades, but version after version has been rolled out to great fanfare, high cost and zero benefit.
The Quick Books people figured out that double entry bookkeeping has been around since the 14th century and isn't likely to change much soon, so don't knock your brains out.. leave it alone. LIFO and FIFO aren't likely to cause much of a stir either, so leave what you have as it is.
Instead they focus on nasty, annoying things like taxes and regulatory reporting.. things that can potentially drive business owners crazy and they do a great job at it.
I've seen it first hand and they are amazing.
