I'm really glad that my country has a completely different political system than they have over there. Here you can't as a citizen buy yourself political power or influence. And if someone tried, yes it has happened, they have been laughed at so much that they have decided to withdraw completely. It's up to the political parties to decide whom gets the positions, and it's actually illegal to give money above a relatively low level to the political parties. To make sure nothing illegal happens, the political parties are checked thoroughly since they have to show whom they get the money from and how much.
