>I'm really glad that my country has a completely different political system than they have over there. Here you can't as a citizen buy yourself political power or influence. And if someone tried, yes it has happened, they have been laughed at so much that they have decided to withdraw completely. It's up to the political parties to decide whom gets the positions, and it's actually illegal to give money above a relatively low level to the political parties. To make sure nothing illegal happens, the political parties are checked thoroughly since they have to show whom they get the money from and how much.

Tore, he's getting a significant amount of attention, but he has no chance. He can certainly finance a large campaign - but ask yourself, what actual political power does he carry? Yes, he can wield influence - but he has no political experience and his lack of basic civics will come out during the debates.

Some have speculated that Trump knows he has no chance and that he doesn't actually want to be president - but that he's running to "toughen up" some of the Republican candidates. I believe there might be some truth to that.

The individuals who arguably have the best chance at the nomination are former governors, but are also known for caving in. So I think Trump is there to force them to be tougher and more aggressive. Mitt Romney had a very good chance of winning in 2012, but lost in part because he was not aggressive enough.
