She was watching TV, and Rene Levesque (then-Quebec premier) was being interviewed, nominally in French. The show ran French subtitles while he was speaking ;)

My wife (and sometimes I) wish that the BBC shows would have sub-titles (and I wouldn't be surprised if many in the UK felt the same way)
