I'm sure you have a much nicer place but even so, yep- a couple in their 20s who got through college without an extra mortgage each or if one of them is a decent tradesman who started earning at 16 and worked hard without being saddled with a college debt, should be able to stretch to this.

Not that it is any of your business, but our house was not really in Akron. It was in a suburb on the outskirt of Akron even though it was zoned as being in Akron. The builder of the development cut a deal with the city so that the city employees (who at the time had to live inside the city limits) would have nice places to live.

Our house sold for $165K.

And these young people did not inherit vast amounts of wealth. Their parents were with them when they made the offer...
